Fire Weather Warning: Santa Ana Event

A MODERATE TO STRONG SANTA ANA IS STILL ON TRACK FOR SUNDAY AND
MONDAY...THOUGH THERE REMAIN SOME UNCERTAINTY TO THE STRENGTH AND
TIMING. CURRENT FORECAST REFLECTS MORE OF THE UPPER RANGE OF
POSSIBLE WINDS...WITH SUSTAINED WINDS BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MPH AND
PEAK GUSTS POSSIBLY TO 65 MPH. WHILE THIS WILL NOT BE A VERY HOT
SANTA ANA...HUMIDITIES WILL STILL LOWER INTO THE TEENS SUNDAY
AFTERNOON OVER THE COAST AND VALLEYS...THEN EXPAND INTO THE
MOUNTAINS SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY. POOR OVERNIGHT RECOVERIES ARE
ALSO EXPECTED. FAIRLY WIDESPREAD CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE POSSIBLE AS A RESULT...AND RED FLAG CRITERIA MAY BE MET OVER
MOST OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES. BREEZY OFFSHORE WINDS
MAY CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY...BUT THEN PLENTY OF UNCERTAINTY
EXISTS WEDNESDAY ONWARD AS ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES DOWN
THE WEST COAST.

Shooting at USC Campus: Halloween Party Turns Violent

South Los Angeles: An argument between party crashers outside a Halloween bash at the University of Southern California late Wednesday ended with a shooting that critically injured one man, wounded three and triggered a campus-wide phone-email-text alert for students to shelter in place.

About 10 minutes after the 11:30 p.m. shooting outside the Ronald Tudor Campus Center, two men were arrested by campus police and turned over to Los Angeles police.

Two men were arguing when one of them pulled a gun and opened fire, said USC police Capt. David Carlisle. One man was shot several times and critically wounded and three bystanders were wounded with non-life threatening injuries. None of those shot or arrested were USC students, the captain added.

The student alert was lifted about three hours later and students were advised a normal class schedule was planned Thursday.  Police said a 17-year-old boy was critically wounded with gunshot wounds to the chest and a leg. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the foot and a 25-year-old man was struck in the buttocks.

Los Angeles Firefighter Paramedics sprang into action quickly treating the trauma patients within minutes. A command post was set up in the quad as police searched for armed suspects.Photos Zimmerman Media LLC 2012, USC Shooting.

Public Safety Picnic A Huge Success: Neenach CA

Brining the community together to discuss public safety issues and show our appreciation to firefighters and local law enforcement while eating hot dogs, listening to a live band and eating cookies. A pretty simple idea to hand out free trees, fire prevention material and smoke detectors. We have mowed weeds and brush picked up garbage and continue to try to improve the community with all volunteer help. Next year hopefully more involvement from public safety agencies.

It all starts wiutha  simple idea and lots of volunteer help to make an event fantastic!
