Post Fire Rehabilitation, Holiday Lake

Today clean up efforts continued at Holiday Lake in Neenach as volunteers planted trees and chipped brush. Children were introduced to planting tree seedlings today as Garret Hazelton from LA County Fire Department discussed the need for re-planting in the fire area.

Fires are a natural part of the environment and we need to restore the balance of nature from time to time. The children got their hands dirty today planting cedars and oaks alongside volunteers as part of their earth and environmental studies.

The lake has come along way since we have started restoration efforts. The birds have returned after the prescribed fire and the lake is being filled again with water again. Volunteers remain committed to finish the project which was started well over a year ago.

More burning and chipping will be required to consume smaller brush piles along the control lines as time and weather permit.
